About - MINING ENGINEERS' ASSOCIATION OF INDIA
The Mining Engineers' Association of India (MEAI) was founded in the year 1957. The aim of establishing such a professional body was to safeguard and enhance the professional competence and integrity of mining industry professionals viz., mining engineers, geologists and allied engineers serving in the opencast and underground metal mines. It was also aimed at contributing its might to induce scientific and technological developments in the mining industry for the benefit of its profession and the country. National Headquarter and permanent Secretariat is located at Hyderabad.
Presently the association has 20 Chapters that are geographically located wide across the length and breadth of the country representing mining fraternity. Eminent mining engineers, geologists and allied professionals are members of this Association. Since then the growth of life membership has 1466 Life members, 51 Life Institutional members, 4 Institutional members and Annual subscription members were enrolled.
The Association since its inception has contributed immensely to the development and propagation of science and technology in all spheres of mining industry which include holding of International and National seminars under the aegis of its Chapters. The Association has been successful in bringing the academicians, researchers, professionals and equipment suppliers on to a single platform where technology and expertise related aspects are discussed in detail. The Chapters are also engaged in conducting short-courses. Through its collaborative agreements with other similar Associations overseas, MEAI is successful in enlarging the scope of exchange of expertise and technology to its members. The Association entered into a collaborative agreement with Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration Inc. (SME), USA and has enrolled over 80 Affiliate members.
The Association's official organ “Mining Engineers' Journal” is published every month, since the year 1961 and is circulated to all its members every month. The chapters publish quarterly news bulletins. In addition, the association has its own website www.meai.in.
By virtue of the emphatic and significant role being played by the Association in the mining industry, it has won recognition from the Government bodies and is represented by its members on several national and state level committees.
About - CONFERENCE
The International Conference on “Advanced Technology in Exploration and Exploitation of Minerals” will showcase technological solutions for
effective and safe exploration and mining in the current production driven
resource environment. These technologies cover a wide spectrum of mining
activities, from exploration, mine planning and scheduling to mine operations, management and control.
The Conference will be an opportunity for industry and academia to meet
and discuss solutions for achieving safe and profitable mining in the
production oriented market. The overall objective of this Conference is to
address the measures, mechanisms and policies that are indispensable to
exploit minerals more efficiently in future. The specific aim is to see
how India can utilize advanced technology to thrive and stay ahead and
also identify technology areas where advances can improve energy
efficiencies, increase productivity and reduce wastes from mining
activities.
